About us
70's Helmets was born painting motorcycles and fuel tanks. Today it paints helmets by hand, one by one, no two alike — and it still makes fuel tanks.
The story of the workshop
Sitting on the sofa but with his eyes always on his creatures, arms outstretched, ready to shoot towards The Great Helmets Wall to grab a helmet, to hand it to whoever is sitting in front of him and show off the details, every last finish, Fabrizio lights up when you ask him what set him going at the beginning and what he dreams of:
I loved old helmets, as a teenager I went hunting for them everywhere, I bought the little twenty-thousand-lire ones, took them apart and put them back together, repainted them. Later I left engineering to become a body painter for vintage cars and to grow up inside the culture I recognise myself in, sharpening my technique. And that is still what I want to do today: surround myself with one-off objects in seventies style. I want to keep putting my own face to them, taking them around in person, watching the satisfied face of someone who sees their own dream in what we made. When at a show I see somebody climb off a bike we painted, wearing a Seventies Helmets helmet, walk up to me and hug me, I understand once again that I want nothing else, because that satisfies me more than selling 100.000 helmets who knows where.
And his face shines as he talks, with a fleck of glitter still stuck to his right temple, catching the light of the lamp and this man’s love for the job he invented for himself and does with nobody to match him.
Oh yes, that little sparkle on his temple says far more than anything else.
Fabrizio really does have helmets on the brain, always.
What we do
We hand-paint ECE 22-06 approved open face and full face helmets, each one different from the next, in our workshop in Bolzano Vicentino (Vicenza, Italy): one-off pieces ready to ship, catalogue series and custom helmets designed together with you. The showroom holds 700 helmets to try on.
Let's talk
A custom helmet, a tank, a size you can't find: on WhatsApp a person answers, not a bot.
